5 Great Cayman Marketing Campaigns
The Cayman Islands, known for their crystal-clear waters and financial services, have also made a name for themselves in innovative marketing.
Today we’re highlighting five local campaigns that set new standards in creativity and effectiveness. From redefining luxury travel to repositioning the islands' global financial image, we think these top five picks are textbook examples of marketing done right! Marketing Campaign: Dream in Cayman by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism
When: 2022
This tourism campaign from the Cayman Department of Tourism reimagined traditional marketing with creative visuals, blending the natural beauty of the islands with unique concepts, such as a constellation of starfish instead of stars. The campaign was aimed at elevating the destination as a luxury lifestyle brand to affluent travellers, and built on its original 2018 campaign called Dream in Nature. This campaign was proudly created by Caymanians and featured Caymanian models, putting a spotlight on the country’s own diverse talent. Marketing Campaign: Cayman Is Not a Tax Haven by Cayman Finance
When: 2020
The "Cayman is Not a Tax Haven" campaign by Cayman Finance aimed to correct misconceptions about the Cayman Islands being a tax haven, highlighting its role as a reputable financial center. Through LinkedIn posts, videos, blogs, and quizzes, it emphasized Cayman's compliance with global financial regulations, its transparent tax-neutral model, and its contribution to global infrastructure development. It was positively received by the financial services industry in the Cayman Islands, and sparked meaningful dialogue about the global economic contributions made by tax neutral jurisdictions like the Cayman Islands. We might be a little biased about this one, as many of us worked on it as members of Cayman agency Fountainhead. In the end, we believe it helped turn the tide to have the Caymans removed from the EU's tax haven blacklist. Marketing Campaign: Stay Safe Cayman by the Cayman Islands Government
When: 2020 - 2022
The "Stay Safe Cayman" campaign, conducted by the Cayman Islands Government, was a public health initiative designed to combat the spread of COVID-19. The campaign's clear, accessible messaging informed residents about travel advisories, protective measures, and various other COVID-related communications. By using relatable imagery and straightforward communication, it is in our opinion that this campaign played a significant role in the country's successful virus containment efforts. This initiative later transitioned into a vaccination drive, which contributed to the Cayman Islands achieving one of the highest vaccination rates globally, countering misinformation and ensuring community health and safety. Marketing Campaign: Kirk Freeport Turns 50 by Kirk Freeport
When: 2022
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Kirk Freeport launched a marketing campaign to showcase its new brand identity and engage customers through various channels. The campaign included a special 50th-anniversary logo, a narrative-driven commercial that traversed Cayman's history and underscored the brand's deep community ties, and a dynamic social media presence. Collaborations with high-end brands enabled a sweepstakes with luxury prizes, alongside a customer appreciation initiative targeting locals with 50th milestones. This multifaceted approach not only honored Kirk Freeport's legacy but also reinforced its bond with the Cayman community. Marketing Campaign: Morritt’s Staycations by Morritt’s Resort
When: 2020-2021
Morritt's Resorts' staycation campaign during the pandemic turned a challenging situation into a unique opportunity by appealing to locals. Utilizing video and social media ads, Morritt's invited Cayman’s residents to enjoy a getaway close to home, even changing their policy to welcome pets to cater to families fully. This innovative approach not only made the resort a local favorite, but also enabled Morritt's to maintain its staff at a time when other hotels were facing layoffs, demonstrating a successful pivot in strategy amidst unprecedented times. Due to this innovative campaign, it feels like all of Cayman has stayed at Morritt's at one time or another! As one of Cayman's best marketing agencies, we're responsible for this highly successful campaign. Want more info? Check out our Staycation Cayman Case Study.
